Inspiration post: spare rooms

November 24th, 2015 by Debbie

It’s that time of year where you need to start preparing for guests. Dust off those spare bedsheets and begin thinking about how to spruce up your spare room for when the in-laws come to stay.

It’s easy to overlook the spare room – it’s not used very often so the idea of investing in expensive wall paper or accessories isn’t particularly inviting. However there are loads of ways you can refresh the spare room without having to go all out and get the decorator round.

Here are a few ideas to get you going…

Magazines

How simple is this? Go to your cloests WHSmith or Magma and buy a few recent magazines that you know will be of interest to your guests. There’s nothing that says ‘up-to-date’ like this month’s magazines, and they look stylish and thoughtful too!

 Fresh flowers

There’s nothing like flowers to freshen up a spare room and make your guests feel warm and welcome. I love orchids, they’re so tranquil and their colours are gorgeous – invest in a few to scatter round the house or grow some plants in preparation for your guests.

 Accessorise with colour

To freshen up your space, go for a colour makeover. Add bright accessories to give the space a new colour scheme and make your spare room feel good as new. Bed linen and scatter cushions are a great way of adding colour and fun without making a hug investment.
