Inspiration post: Roman blinds

November 3rd, 2014 by Debbie

As winter closes in, a change in window treatment is imminent. Light voiles for summer are out and thick, luscious curtains are in. However, if your interior is better suited to a Roman blind, it can be difficult to keep the warmth in. Here are a few ideas on how to keep your home cosy while keeping your Roman blinds stylish.

Double up

There’s no reason why you can’t have the best of both worlds when it comes to window treatment. Some thick, linen curtains with thermal lining will keep out the winter chills, and having Roman blinds behind means you can have double the warmth and have a quick transition once summer comes round.

Bathroom

On a chilly morning there’s nothing worse that a freezing cold bathroom. It’s vital to keep the chill out during winter, yet this can be hard when you have Roman blinds. It’s important to remember to measure a little over the correct width so that the gaps don’t let in any drafts, but remember to get interlining – this makes for great insulation.

Find a nook

If you don’t want to add thermal lining or curtains to warm up your blinds, why not accessorise around them? This lovely little nook is full of cosy cushions and warm lighting, so even though the blinds are ideal for summer, the space feels warm and wintery.

In the kitchen

I love the look of this quirky kitchen, and how it sets off the fantastic pattern on this vintage blind. Fun, bright patterns like this can brighten up a gloomy winter day, and you can even make them yourself!
