Accessory of the week: fairy lights

October 19th, 2015 by Debbie

In the run up to Christmas, why not start incorporating some decorations that you won’t have to take down straight away? I love how fairy lights look in the home. They produce a warm and playful atmosphere in any room, whether it’s the kitchen, bathroom or bedroom and add an extra layer to your lighting scheme.

There are plenty of ways you can bring them into your interior to cosy things up. It’s an inexpensive way of adding a touch of fun to your space and they can stay put throughout the year.

In the conservatory

A typically chilly and unloved part of the house is the conservatory. I love the idea of creating a little reading nook and decking it out with these simple fair lights. It instantly warms the space and will encourage you to spend more time there of an evening. Add a Christmas tree for extra cosy points.

In the bedroom

I love fairy lights in the bedroom. The light is soft and sleepy and is a lovely addition to a bedroom over winter. I love these floral lights, they’re fun and would be perfect for a children’s room or nursery.

 Accessorise

If you want to mix things up a bit, fit jars with fairy lights to light up the room. This will look great in a Scandi-style living room as it’s a simple, minimal idea.

In the garden

If you want to make your outdoors glow all year round, why not add fairy lights to your garden? It’s a lovely idea to light up the outdoors during winter, especially as you hardly see the garden during this season. For a romantic meal, why not add heaters so you can eat outdoors during the cold months?
