100% Natural Fabrics
All of our fabrics are 100% natural. Why? Because we believe natural fabric feels, looks and hangs best. Natural fabrics offer a simplicity and beauty that, in our opinion, cannot be matched with a manmade alternative. It really is as simple as that. However, currenrly we have no organic fabrics and the dyes used in their production are not organic or 'natural' either. We plan to introduce a range of organic curtain fabrics in the near future.
Sourcing curtain fabrics that meet our criteria is time consuming. We visit several major European fabric shows every year, looking for new fabrics. We think that we source and filter the very best into a select range of high quality, beautiful understated classics. We love them all and hope you do too.
Natural Linings
Our linings are 100% natural, with the exception of blackout and thermal linings which are coated on one side with a synthetic finish to give the fabrics their unique properties.
Fabric Care
The best way to clean curtains or Roman blinds of any kind is to vacuum them in situ using a clean vacuum attachment. Even so, if you feel they require a deep clean after a few years, just remember that our curtains are dry clean only and this process can shrink the fabrics by up to 3%. They must NEVER go into a washing machine.
Ironing
While we do our utmost to deliver our products in the best possible condition, natural fabrics can crush easily so don’t be surprised if your curtains or blinds are slightly creased on arrival. You can either iron them before hanging or hang them up and watch the creases disappear over a couple of weeks. Be careful with steam as it can make the looser weave fabrics sag temporarily. We think hanging them up and letting gravity do the work is easier and safer.
Stretching
Please note that natural fabrics can also give and stretch slightly over time, especially loose weave linens. This should not matter unless the length of your curtains or roman blinds is absolutely critical. Over time, the added length can be up to 1cm or so.
Light Fastness And Fading
Our natural fabrics have varying degrees of light fastness depending on which range they are from. The best way to protect the colour in your curtain is to order a lined or interlined curtain.
